Articulated Hourglass Gauntlets, circa 14th Century
These gauntlets are narrow at the wrist, flaring out towards the fingers and the elbow, thus creating an hourglass shape. They are riveted to leather gloves and have a leather palm strap for additional security and strength. The fingers and thumbs are guarded with an extra layer of harder leather that also protects the suede glove from wear and chafe.
