These belt mounts are modeled directly after the historic belt of Erik of Pomerania discovered at Fredensborg Palace in Denmark. The original artifact dates back to the 13th to 14th century (with elements of the complete belt assemblage extending into the mid-15th century) and is associated with King Erik VII of Scandinavia. The original woven belt featured 27 metal mounts set with brilliant red, green, and blue semi-precious stones. This faithful reproduction retains the exact dimensions of the original fittings while replacing the gems with an embossed lattice pattern.
During the High Middle Ages, a decorated belt was one of the most prominent displays of social standing, wealth, and chivalric dignity. Intricately mounted leather and textile girdles were proudly worn by nobility and wealthy merchants across Europe.
Installation Guidelines for Leather Belts
Attaching these mounts to your leathercraft projects is a straightforward process:

- Punching: Punch a small hole through the leather at each mark using a leather punch or awl.
- Securing: Insert the rear mounting pin through the hole, place the included washer over the pin on the reverse side, and gently peen the pin flat using a ball-peen hammer.
