Hand-Carved Viking Drinking Horn – Natural, Coloured (400-500 ml)

Appearance and Features:

This drinking horn is made from genuine ox horn, carefully hand-processed. Its surface is smoothly polished and treated for protection with a water-resistant, epoxy-based food-grade resin. Each piece is unique – every horn differs slightly in its specific shape, length (typically between 27 and 33 cm / approx. 10.6 - 13 inches), and the natural grain and colouring of the material.

The specimen pictured has a length of approximately 28.4 cm (approx. 11.2 inches) and a weight of around 318 g (approx. 11.2 oz). At first glance, it captivates with its detailed hand-carving in the shape of long grass or stylised leaves. This carving adorns the surface, which is divided into distinctly coloured stripes. The colours range from a dark, almost black tip, through warm brown and dark grey sections, to a lighter, beige-grey rim. The total volume of the horn is between 400 and 500 ml (approx. 14 - 17.5 fl oz).

History and Use:

Drinking horns have a rich history dating back to antiquity, but we most often associate them with the Vikings and medieval Europe (approx. 8th - 15th century). They weren't just ordinary vessels – they were used at festive banquets, rituals, and ceremonies. Warriors, nobles, and common folk alike drank from them on special occasions, and they often symbolised the owner's status and wealth.

How can you use this horn?

This horn is ideal for:

  • Historical festivals, LARP events, or re-enactments: It completes your costume and adds authenticity.
  • Gatherings with friends: Surprise them with an original way to serve drinks (ale, mead) around a campfire or at a garden party.
  • Themed parties: A great addition to a Viking, medieval, or fantasy party.
  • Original decoration: Displayed on a shelf or mantelpiece, it adds a rustic and historical touch to your home.
  • A unique gift: It will delight any lover of history, fantasy, Vikings, or simply natural and unusual objects.

Care Instructions:

To ensure your horn serves you well for a long time, please follow a few guidelines:

  • It is intended for cold drinks with an alcohol content of up to 20%.
  • Not suitable for hot beverages (as they could damage the horn's structure).
  • Do not clean in a dishwasher.
  • Before first use and after each subsequent use, wash by hand under running water.
  • For a longer life and to maintain its beauty, you can occasionally (ideally after each use) treat it with beeswax.
  • As this is a natural product, it may naturally change over time, and small cracks may appear – this is part of its authentic character.

Get yourself this beautiful, hand-decorated drinking horn and bring a piece of history, nature, and genuine atmosphere into your moments!

Naprostá spokojenost. Roh přišel do pár dnů i v rušném období před Vánoci. Je to moc krásná práce, jak velikost, barva, tak tvar a vyřezávání. Velice doporučuji ?
