Chain mail coifs

A chain mail coif is a type of armour that covers the head. A chain mail coif is a flexible hood made of chain mail mesh that covers the neck, nape and upper part of the shoulders. Chain mail coifs were very popular with European warriors in the Middle Ages. They have protected warriors' heads from cuts on the battlefield since the early Middle Ages.

Chain mail coifs

Under the chain hood you should wear a padded arming cap or hood. Otherwise, your hair gets entangled in the rings and especially its taking off the Coif will be a painful experience. Remove the preservative oil before putting the Coif on. After use, dry it well and put some oil on it. When is the coif in use, the rings rub against each other and the surface corrosion is rubbed off.
