Chainmail Coifs have protected warriors' heads since the early Middle Ages from cut injuries on the battlefields. Under the chain hood you should wear a padded arming cap or hood. Otherwise, your hair gets entangled in the rings and especially its taking off the Coif will be a painful experience. Remove the preservative oil before putting the Coif on. After use, dry it well and put some oil on it. When is the coif in use, the rings rub against each other and the surface corrosion is rubbed off.
