Sabbatons with open heel (1290-1390)
Sabattons are toed, armed covering for the leather shoes. They consist of six plates with a central riser and slightly pointed, the last one with a beak; by the ankle is the plate outward bent. The sabatons are fastened to the leather shoes by means of three leather straps, two of which are under the outsole and one is at the heel with.
