For centuries, belt pouches and purses were the only safe place for a commoner to store their valuables. Built-in clothing pockets only became widely common for the general population much later. This specific model is inspired by peasant and burgher patterns from the late 18th century. Similar simple yet sturdy leather bags with a front flap and buckle closure were worn by craftsmen, merchants, and farmers alike. They were traditionally used to store coins, tinder, tobacco, or personal amulets. Its design is so timeless that it will perfectly fit into fantasy realms, a medieval camp, or a Renaissance fayre.

Usage Instructions and Proper Care

The back of the pouch features a wide leather loop. Simply thread your leather belt through it and position the pouch on your hip for easy and quick access. It closes securely using a classic leather strap and a metal buckle with a brass finish. Because it is made from thick ox leather (up to 2.5 mm / 0.1 in), we highly recommend treating it with a high-quality beeswax leather balm before its first demanding use in the field. This will make the leather more supple, extend its lifespan, and provide better resistance against rain and moisture.

Safety and Warnings

Treat the pouch like any other quality genuine leather product. Never wash it in a washing machine, soak it in water unnecessarily, or dry it near a direct heat source such as a radiator or an open campfire. Rapid drying could cause the leather to irreversibly harden, crack, and lose its shape. Simply wipe off any mud or dirt gently with a damp cloth and let the pouch dry naturally at room temperature. Please note that other accessories, such as the belt shown in the photographs, are not included in the delivery.
