The handmade shoes were worn in mountainous areas of the Carpathians. They fit as accessories to many historical medieval costumes. They are worn as a part of the traditional Moravian folklore up to now. They follow the old type of boots of the Slav nations from the 9-10 century, which were known to many European and Extra-European nations. Already in the Middle Ages they became a symbol a peasant classes. In Central Europe they remained until the First World War, mainly in isolated mountainous regions.
