Frequently asked Questions: Medieval armor

Do you make custom-sized chain mail armor?
The production of chain mail armor requires a lot of human handiwork. We were affected by an important fact that also changed the rules in many other industries. The labor costs of European workers far exceed the labor costs in Asia, even if you take into account the transport costs from Asia! For this simple reason, in the EU there are no workshops that manufacture chain mail armor professionally - and we are working with professionals only! Hobby-producers, who occasionally work in their garages, do not fit into our business concept. We are very sorry; we cannot make for you any mail armor made-to-your measure. Some re-enactors found a solution for this situation: they buy our imported standard-sized mail shirts (sometimes oversize or several pieces), unravel them and make tailor-made mail shirts, legs and other armor parts by themselves.
Hello! Could you make for me an armor and a robe from the movie XY?
I'm sorry that we cannot satisfy you in this regard. Both the movies themselves, and weapons, armor, costumes and other objects are often subject to copyright. This is verified consistently by the Copyright distributors. A violation these rights is unlawful and punished with high fines. You can find some movie replicas in our store, but these are imported products from overseas that were officially and legally manufactured under bought license.
Could you build in the gauntlets leather gloves for a better shock absorption?
Wearing gauntlets on bare hands is uncomfortable and it can also lead to injuries. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you protect your hands with (padded) leather gloves. Most gauntlets are equipped with a series of leather loops inside. Fingers and palm of the leather gloves are to be pulled through these loops. Leather is a material that first wears. This system allows easy replacement of worn out leather gloves. If desired, we build leather gloves into the gauntlets, so that they cannot be removed. In this case, please order an extra pair of leather gloves and note your request in the note to your order. Please note, that is already a custom-made order and such gloves cannot be returned within 14 days.
I own an original armor and sword from the 16th century, would you be interested to buy it?
Unfortunately, there is no expert in our team who can confirm the authenticity, or estimate an approximate price from your original sword (or armor). Try to contact an antique dealer near you. If you are not in time pressure, we recommend that you contact an auction house that specializes in the militaria originals. The authenticity of your original will be confirmed here. The item will be documented and presented in a professional way and last but not least included in the upcoming auction catalogue. We can name for example the auction house Hermann Historica from Munich (Germany). We will keep our fingers crossed when you will be selling the original!
From which material is the combat version of the shield with coat of arms made?
It is made of 3mm mild steel as standard. If you need a different material or a different thickness, make a note of your wish in the comment to your order. We will contact you after talking to the production.
How many square inches covers the 50ml Cold Blackening Fluid?
The area to be treated depends mainly on how thick the layer of the Blackening Fluid you apply. In general, a 50ml bottle is sufficient for a bascinet type helmet.
