Are you bored of cutting with classical modern scissors? Would you like to cut using some more original instruments? You will find various types of forged scissors in our e-shop. They look like something in former times. Our scissors are designed for cutting of bonsai. It will be your popular activity from now. So choose it!

Scissors are about 3-4 thousand years old. First scissors had (of course) only primitive construction and were made from bronze. They were spring scissors. Today, similar scissors are used to cut wool. Spring scissors were later replaced with pivoted scissors which were made in bulk in the second half of the 18th century. Cast steel was used for their production. Hand-forged scissors were especially popular in the 19th century.

We offer beautiful forged scissors for cutting of bonsai. Bonsai growing is art actually. The principle lies in the fact that the plant should look like old miniature tree in container. Small tree growing is not easy. Our forged scissors will help you with it, maybe.

Advisory Service: Questions and Answers

What is the difference between industrially rolled and hand-forged blades?

In the case of hand-forged blades, our blacksmith takes the already rolled spring steel and forges it by hand on the anvil or under the drop hammer. The steel gets more solid (denser) by forging. In the case of industrially rolled spring steel blades, the sheets of steel plate is cut to strips under drop snips, then ground or milled and immediately forged into the annealing furnace and oil-quenched. The properties of both kinds of steels are not very different, since industrial rolling is already very good! On forged blades are usually blacksmith marks, which give them an authentic and unique look.
