Medieval brass candleholder Dragon rider
Replica of a medieval candle holder. The original was made in Germany in the 13th century. The motive is a warrior which opens and sits inside the muzzle of a dragon. The warrior wears a conical nasal helmet with a mail aventail and probably a chain mail shirt as well. We therefor assume it is high-medieval.
Possibly it is referring to the Nibelungen saga (warrior=Siegfried?) and/or to another dragon slayer e.g. the holy George.
