Parrying dagger

The parrying dagger (also left-handed-dagger) is a category of small hand-held weapons from the European late Middle Ages and early Renaissance. These weapons were used as off-hand weapons in conjunction with a single-handed sword. As the name implies they were designed to parry, or defend, more effectively than a simple dagger form, typically incorporating a wider guard, and often some other defensive features to better protect the hand, as well.

The parrying dagger  is used mainly to assist in parrying incoming thrusts, while the dominant hand wields a rapier or similar longer weapon intended for one-handed use. It may also be used for attack if an opportunity arises.

Advisory Service: Questions and Answers

Hi, how long is the warranty on your swords?

The warranty is 2 years long and refers to material faults and faults that appear when used in a proper way. The warranty does not cover to common wear out. We recommend using swords made by the same producers for sparring swordfights. Our weapons are designed for training and theatre fencing (stage combats). Brutal and improper use (such as stabbing and knocking it into the ground, or forcing it) can damage even the best sword!
