Decorative Templar Dagger Armand de Périgord on Display Plaque

Historical Symbolism and Detailed Craftsmanship

In the Middle Ages, a dagger was not only a backup weapon in close combat but also represented an important symbol of social status for the nobility and high-ranking order members. This replica is clear proof of that. On the polished steel blade, you will find a precise etched engraving with a Christian theme. The richly decorated crossguard bears the classic red Templar crosses and in its centre boasts a shield with the seal of the order – the depiction of two knights riding on one horse, which originally symbolised brotherly poverty. The grip is banded with a French lily (Fleur-de-lis) motif and ends in a massive hexagonal pommel featuring a portrait.

Safe Usage and Care Instructions

For safety reasons, we must strongly advise you that this is a purely decorative item. The dagger is not balanced for combat, its construction is not designed to withstand stress, and the 1.8 mm (0.07 in) thick edge is not adapted for contact. The product is absolutely unsuitable for practical use, such as historical fencing (HEMA), stage combat, technique practice, or test cutting. Such handling risks destroying the dagger and causing serious injury!

As for maintenance, the dagger is very undemanding. It is sufficient to occasionally wipe the decorative blade with a dry cloth, or perhaps preserve it with a thin layer of gun oil to prevent unwanted oxidation caused by air humidity or fingerprints. The wooden plaque can be treated with a standard furniture polish.
