Order of Malta decorative dagger with wall plaque

Polished blade and contrasting hilt

The AISI 440 stainless steel blade is broad beside the crossguard and tapers markedly towards the point. Longitudinal profiling adds definition to its polished surface. The simple crossguard has gently curved arms and matches the metallic finish of the pommel.

According to the supplied specifications, the hilt is stainless steel. Black leather covers the grip in regularly spaced sections. The faceted pommel carries a white cross against a black background, finished in black and white enamel. The overall appearance is restrained compared with more elaborately ornamented heraldic daggers.

Display and optional scabbard

The wall plaque features a dark surface, shaped edges, gold-coloured scrolling plant ornaments and two supports. Before hanging it, check that the dagger sits securely. Choose fixings suitable for your wall and the weight of the complete display. Position it beyond children’s reach and away from places where someone could accidentally knock it.

The black leather scabbard is available at extra cost and is not included as standard.

Why the Order of Malta?

The name refers to the Knights Hospitaller, also known as the Order of St John. Their roots lie in an 11th-century Jerusalem hospital; papal recognition followed in 1113. They later added military duties to their care for the sick. Their connection with Malta dates from their arrival in 1530, during the 16th century. The dagger’s name and decoration evoke this tradition; it is not documented as a copy of a particular historical weapon.

Care and safety

This dagger is a decorative item only and is unsuitable for practical use. Do not use it for fencing, contact LARP, thrusting or cutting. Even a decorative blade can cause injury with its point. Do not sharpen the blade or expose the dagger to impacts.

After handling, wipe the metal parts with a soft, dry cloth and store the dagger in dry conditions. Avoid abrasive cleaners and solvents that could damage the enamel or leather. Test leather care products on an inconspicuous area first.

Recommended accessories

We recommend the optional scabbard and a soft cleaning cloth. Complete an order-themed display with a decorative shield or an illustration of a 13th-century Hospitaller knight. For the order’s Maltese period, choose a 16th-century theme.
