Origin and Historical Use

Historically, the cut of this blouse is based on traditional ladies' undergarments, or chemises, worn from the late Middle Ages through the early modern period, roughly from the 15th to the 18th century. These shifts protected valuable outer garments from sweat while providing high comfort to the wearer. This specific model, with its richly gathered sleeves and loose fit, is visually heavily inspired by the aesthetics of the Golden Age of Piracy in the 17th and 18th centuries across the Caribbean and Europe. The short V-neck with a tie string and the option to wear the blouse daringly off-the-shoulder give it a slightly romantic and free-spirited look.

The product is precisely manufactured from 100% Rayon (viscose). This is the first artificial fibre made from regenerated cellulose, the production of which emerged in the 19th century in France as a more affordable substitute for luxurious silk. Today, Rayon is valued for its excellent moisture absorption, beautiful drape, and incredible breathability. The blouse is absolutely ideal for summer LARPs, historical re-enactments, but also serves as a striking element for fantasy cosplay. Please note that other clothing items shown in the photographs, such as the green skirt, are not included in the delivery.

Care and Maintenance of the Garment

Rayon is incredibly soft to the touch but, like any fine fabric, requires gentle care. We highly recommend washing the blouse by hand or in a washing machine on a very delicate cycle with a water temperature of up to 30 °C (86 °F). Do not use bleach under any circumstances and do not forcefully wring the fabric to avoid damaging its structure and fibres. After washing, gently hang the blouse and let it air dry; definitely do not put it in a tumble dryer. You can iron it on a low setting (select the silk or synthetics programme), ideally inside out, so the fabric retains its natural sheen.
