The historical belt is made of up to 4 mm thick smooth cowhide. The belt's length is 150 cm. If you pay a certain additional fee we will produce for you a longer belt to order. The belt's maximum production length is 210 cm. The belt's width is 4 cm. The belt is provided with hand-hammered wrought buckle that was modelled on a specimen from circa the 10th -11th century. The leather belt is connected to the wrought buckle with a leather strip. Along its entire edge the belt is decorated with an engraved groove.
Advice for the wearer of the leather belt with a twisted wrought buckle: If you untangle the leather strip you can replace the buckle with any buckle of the same width. Please specify your waist measure in your order. Based on this information we will cut holes in your belt to secure that it fits well. Otherwise the first hole is cut out at the length corresponding to the waist measure of 90 cm.
Please note: This product is made by hand from genuine leather. This is a purely natural material. Minor differences in the colour and surface texture are its natural characteristics. These small imperfections do not decrease the value of the product. Each piece is to some extent an original.
The production of chain mail armor requires a lot of human handiwork. We were affected by an important fact that also changed the rules in many other industries. The labor costs of European workers far exceed the labor costs in Asia, even if you take into account the transport costs from Asia! For this simple reason, in the EU there are no workshops that manufacture chain mail armor professionally - and we are working with professionals only! Hobby-producers, who occasionally work in their garages, do not fit into our business concept. We are very sorry; we cannot make for you any mail armor made-to-your measure. Some re-enactors found a solution for this situation: they buy our imported standard-sized mail shirts (sometimes oversize or several pieces), unravel them and make tailor-made mail shirts, legs and other armor parts by themselves.
