An artfully shaped mask like those in this category will nicely complement your original Renaissance and Baroque costume. It will make from you a mysterious and charming person who is welcome at every carnival or fancy dress party. These Venetian masks are made in a small family company in Venice, where the masks are traditionally hand-crafted. The success of these masks lies in precision of the hand-craft and the combination of art, taste and originality, which has been refined during centuries. The base of the mask is made of papier-mâché, which is applied in layers. A charming mask proudly recognizing its historical origin is created thanks to the final hand-painting. It can be bound on the head by means of a black ribbon.
In the case of hand-forged blades, our blacksmith takes the already rolled spring steel and forges it by hand on the anvil or under the drop hammer. The steel gets more solid (denser) by forging. In the case of industrially rolled spring steel blades, the sheets of steel plate is cut to strips under drop snips, then ground or milled and immediately forged into the annealing furnace and oil-quenched. The properties of both kinds of steels are not very different, since industrial rolling is already very good! On forged blades are usually blacksmith marks, which give them an authentic and unique look.
