The design of the hanger is inspired by historical documentation. It is an interesting fact that already at that time the wearer used to have historical hand forged buckles. The historical rapier and smallsword hanger is made of up to 3.5 thick cowhide. It is composed of a carrying strap and a bottom hangerto which leather strings are fastened to provide for attachment of a scabbard to the hanger.
All metal parts are hand-hammered. The carrying strap can be shortened or extended according to the wearer's height. The standard length of the belt is 160 cm and can be shortened or extended too with a robust buckle. At your request we will make the product in a different size that you specify in your order. Besides the colour shown in the picture the bag is available in other colours: see the choice of colour.
Wearing of swords and rapiers with bare blade can be dangerous. It can lead to injury or damage to the blade. This Bandelier can be on request delivered with leather sheath made to the size of your sword´s blade. If that's your wish, please make a note in the comment of your order the following data:
Please note: This product is made by hand from genuine leather. This is a purely natural material. Minor differences in the colour and surface texture are its natural characteristics. These small imperfections do not decrease the value of the product. Each piece is to some extent an original.
The daggers are approximately made as follows. The basic shape of the blade is made by a laser CNC machine. It is burned from spring steel. The semi-finished blade follows then in the groove cutter, where the cutting edge and the groove are milled. The blade is then oil-quenched and tempered to the desired hardness. Then the guard and pommel is attached to the blade tang. The tang is usually peened at the end (behind the pommel) and the cross-guard hard soldered with brass. Hardwood plates are placed under the handle wrapping from genuine cowhide so that the handle is sufficiently robust for a safe grasp. The steels surfaces obtain the desired finish in the end - with a wire brush or with a felt disc with polishing paste.
