The different grain sizes are designated by numbers which the number of stitches to 1 inch length specify (25.4mm) of the sieve used. For example, an abrasive with the grain size 150 passes just a sieve with 150 meshes per inch of length. A higher grit number indicates a smaller abrasive grain and a finer abrasive product.
