The rapier hanger was modelled on historical documents from the northern part of Italy. The baldric was also used to carry heavy burdens, such as the drum. However most often weapons (sword, rapier, smallsword) would be hung on it. A wide strap that is used to carry the weapon is widened in the bottom part of the hanger and divided into 4 parts. The bottom part of the hanger is shortened according to the width of the rapier or sword sheath. The hanger is mainly made of up to 3.5 mm thick smooth cowhide. The carrying strap of the hanger can be shortened or extended according to the wearer's height.
The belt's standard length is 160 cm. It can be shortened or extended with a robust buckle. At your request we will make the product in a different size that you specify in your order. Besides the colour shown in the picture the baldric is available in other colours: see the choice of colour.
Wearing of swords and rapiers with bare blade can be dangerous. It can lead to injury or damage to the blade. This Bandelier can be on request delivered with leather sheath made to the size of your sword´s blade. If that's your wish, please make a note in the comment of your order the following data:
Please note: This product is made by hand from genuine leather. This is a purely natural material. Minor differences in the colour and surface texture are its natural characteristics. These small imperfections do not decrease the value of the product. Each piece is to some extent an original.
In the case of hand-forged blade our blacksmith takes the already rolled spring steel and forges it with hand on the anvil or under the monkey (drop hammer). By forging becomes the steel more compacted (denser). Industrially rolled spring steel blades are made by cutting steel plate into strips under drop shears. Then they are ground or milled/grooved and without further forging directly put into the annealing furnace and hardened in oil bath. The qualities of both kinds of blades do not differ from each other much since the industrial rolling is already very good. On forged blades usually have forge traces, which give them an authentic and unique look.
