Medieval Men's Shirts

The medieval men's shirt is a classic part of medieval clothing, especially in the Gothic period. It was often girded with a belt. Shirts replaced previously worn tunics. In 13th century Bohemia, men wore their bellies as before, and wore trousers that were tied to a belt. Slowly, even narrower trousers are beginning to appear, which sometimes even have an end in the form of a firmly sewn foot. In our territory, the tunic was replaced by a garment called a cotte, which was more fitted than the tunic. It had a wider and more pleated skirt. In addition, a surcot (sleeveless) was worn over the cotte.
